me alone
What are the most important things needed to live a good life?
I am going to sidestep the question of what a “good” life is and how do I know it is “good”.
Control what I can control! And do not worry about what is outside on my control. And what is that? Me! I can only answer for me and I can only make choices for me. I stand alone and only when I stand alone may I have a good life.
for me
While I really appreciate all people who read, like, and follow this blog, I write for me. If it connects with you that is a bonus. I collect quotes and random ideas for me. Maybe one day I will look back on some of the posts and be inspired to write for an audience. But for today I write for me.
Max
If you had to change your name, what would your new name be?
I have seriously thought of changing my name. It would be Max – the name of my material grandfather.

Soulmates are not discovered but are created by two people working hard.
picture book
Do you remember your favorite book from childhood?
Yes, I remember a picture book of the life of Jesus. I am not sure what happened to it.
I remember the feel and smell. Maybe my love of hardcover books started here? And I do remember the last page (and its very bad theology): Jesus waving good-bye from cloud.
only 3?
List three books that have had an impact on you. Why?
- Book of Common Prayer: rhythm of prayer and the language
- Fear and Trembling: insightful on faith and duty.
- Metamorphosis: transformation is not always as expected
this one goes to 11
I have heard many sermons, seen many illustrations, and been at many meetings. And, I think, this video says it all – if you know, you know:
puzzles
Describe one simple thing you do that brings joy to your life.
I normally would write about books. Or maybe reading, or information. But the one thing that brings me unconditional joy is jigsaw puzzles. I love the peace and enjoy the development of the picture. In fact, I think jigsaw puzzles are a metaphor for the way that I think – I describe pieces and you make the picture.
Asher Lev
My Name Is Asher Lev by Chaim Potok. I read the whole book in a day, missing a lectures at Seminary. Maybe I should read it again?
